BIOGRAPHY

Joey is a choreographer, director, and master dance teacher that has worked internationally as well as the USA. He is highly sought after for his creative aspect of theater, corporate theater and television. When he teaches he makes it fun to learn with an energy that is contagious. 
 
His choreography is energetic and stylish!

With over 30 years of experience in most areas of the show business industry, Joey Doucette can offer today a widely ranged artistic and professional experience, including but not limited to dance teaching, choreography for stage and television, direction and show production.

 

Joey Doucette wrote and created a variety of production shows throughout the United States, Latin America and Europe. He employed his versatile knowledge of different styles of dance while teaching across North and South America as well as many European and Asian countries. His knowledge and creativity was really appreciated by many production companies around the world that not only used his talent in its raw form as a choreographer/director, but also his business proposals and encompassed entertainment/production packages built to serve buyer’s necessities and current market needs.

 

Joey Doucette is working now to broaden his palette of artistic influence throughout the European and Asian entertainment community. He has performed at the famous Moulin Rouge in Paris and Jubilee in Las Vegas. He also has performed on television with Latin Americas top stars, Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Olga Breeskin, Lucia Mendez, Jose Jose and many more. He also has choreographed for Mana, Flans, Siempre en Domingo, and a host of other television shows in Latin America, the United States, and Europe. Joey worked with Chita Riviera, Tony Bennett and Regis Philbin in Las Vegas. Joey has created industrials that have performed in New York City. Joey also has choreographed countless corporate events in Las Vegas Mr. Doucette’s work has been seen in over 44 different countries.  Mr. Doucette has traveled to China and was the first Western artistic director contracted with an all Chinese entertainment company.  Mr. Doucette was recently on faculty of The International Ballet Summer School in Dresden, Germany and Carcassonne, France with Marina Antonova and Guy Albouy, where he taught the Jazz Technique of Luigi for 5 years. He also recently taught jazz and musical theater dance in the Czech Republic. Joey always continues to travel the world teaching what he loves most Jazz and musical theater.

 

Joey has trained with the world famous Luigi of New York City. He also taught at Luigi’s Jazz Centre, off and on since 1985.  Luigi was Joey’s teacher, friend and mentor for 36 years. Joey took Luigi to Mexico City to teach at Joey’s Dance Center. He recently performed and choreographed in NYC at Symphony Space, in a Benefit Tribute show, in memory of Luigi.

 

 Joey also was on full scholarship at Joffrey Ballet when still in New York City. Mr. Doucette has taught throughout the USA, Mexico, Europe Italy, France, Romania, Latvia, Ukraine, Korea, Portugal, and more. Joey also has been a guest teacher at the University of Mexico, and worked with the Ballet de Mexico, UCSD San Diego, La Jolla Ballet, Jazz Unlimited San Diego, Nevada Ballet Theater and at the Virginia School of the Arts under the direction of Petrus Bosman. Plus most recently he taught and choreographed a variety of Jazz Ballets for the Alabama School of Fine Arts (ASFA). Joey is on the jazz dance faculty of Steps in New York City. Known as a energetic and stylized teacher/choreographer, he has enjoyed teaching all levels from 8 yrs of age to professionals. As a former studio owner, in Mexico City, Joey understands the needs of studio owners and teachers in the studio environment. Joey has had extensive experience in all aspects of the dance business, both onstage and backstage. Joey is always looking for new talent, and has hired dancers straight from the dance schools around the country.
